Ansai leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week, in the season of Lent (marking the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert). Morning Prayer – Ansai reads a passage from Hebrews, Chapter 3, verse 7 to the end. This scripture refers to Exodus and the description of the people of Israel destined to wander in the desert, because they lost their faith in God. We are encouraged to consider our way forward without the loss of our faith too; “Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today’, so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partners of Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end.”
We pray for the people of Ukraine and Russia and for world peace. We pray for wise decision-making and for the moral integrity of all world leaders in the face of evil – most especially this morning.
