Morning Prayer Saturday March 12th 2022

Rick is one of St Luke’s Church Wardens and he leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week, in the season of Lent (marking the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert). Morning Prayer – Rick reads a passage from John, Chapter 6, verses 27 to 40. In this scripture John describes Jesus’ point – that in the end material things fall apart or lose their significance and pass away – beautiful and hard-won though they may be, it is our eternal life we should consider above all of these things; “’Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal… Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

We pray for the people of Ukraine and Russia and for world peace. We pray for wise decision-making and for the moral integrity of all world leaders in the face of evil – most especially this morning.
